Lot of 9 lead-silver specimens from the vicinity of Eureka representing the diversity of ores that gave the Silver State her name. Branching out from the boomtown Austin, prospectors found lead-silver veins in the hillsides of what was soon to be the mining meca of Eureaka - ranked Nevada's second richest mineral district behind the Comstock. Samples in this lot include prisinte galena crystals, a slabbed vein sample of galena, sphalerite, pyrite, tetrahedrite, and quartz, secondary cerrusite and anglesite, and nice sample of crystalline aggregrates of bournonite - a copper, lead, antimony sulfosalt. These uncommon and well developed crystals make this a nice display piece. Additional samples include slabbed galena vein material with reported assays of 4.52 oz/t Ag and 0.04 oz/t Au collected from the Eureka Uncle Sam Mines Company's Hamburg Mine, and a nice example of the lead oxide minium. Of particular interest to the collectot are two beautiful examples of wulfenite, both with spectacular crystal development with one example showing unuausal crystal habit.
