Incorporated in Nevada, 1871. Cert. #222 issued in 1872 to Glazier and Seligsberg, trustees for 50 shares. Signed by Cha. E. Elliah, secretary and J.D. Fry, president. One rose stamp tied R48 R4 adhesive perf stamp at left. Small vignette of a tree scene at bottom. Datelined San Francisco. U/C. It was run by John D. Fry, who made millions on the Crown Point bonanza at Gold Hill about the time this certificate was issued. The Bowery shipped ores to Bullionville, the same as other producing mines at Pioche. Raymond reported in the Statistics of Mines and Mining in the States and Territories West of the Rockies (1877) that they were shipping 300-400 tons per month. Couch & Carpenter in Nevada's Metal and Mineral Production (1943) cite a "Bowen Consol" shipping about $36,000 in bullion in 1872, which we suspect is a typographic error, since there is no "Bowen" listed in Raymond in this district at this time. - Clint Maish Collection
