Book of cash payments and deposits for the Depot Hotel Company in Elko, NV. Elko was the end of the line for the Central Railroad. Thus, Elko sprang up as a depot town and remained after the rail line headed east to Promontory, UT to connect the transcontinental railroad. Permanent buildings were built throughout the late nineteenth century and the Depot Hotel (named for the "depot" quality of the community) was only one of them. The Depot Company Hotel was torn down in 1904. The ledger book was made and bound by The Irwin Hodson Co. in Portland, OR. Some loose transaction receipts including one with a small vignette of the hotel. Book has cracking at the spine but pages are tight and legible. 11 1/2" x 16".
