1 3/8” red chip with tan checks. Excellent condition with sharp edges. The History of the Tahoe Biltmore began in 1946. When new owners purchased the casino in 1951 it became the Cal-Neva Biltmore, and in 1958 it was renamed the Nevada Lodge when it was purchased by the Fitzgerald’s (Meta and Lincoln), who came to Reno via Detroit in 1946. In 1985, the Biltmore changed hands again and was renamed its original 1946 name. Fitzgerald had built a hotel, restaurant, entertainment, and gaming empire from 1946 to the mid 1980s when, after his death in 1981, the family sold out their interests in all concerns to a management conglomerate [Refs: http://oldreno.net/fitzgeralds.htm; Anderson, Allan, “Tahoe Biltmore: A Brief History and Mary,” 2003]. Extremely rare, not known until the Fitzgerald Collection surfaced several years ago. We sold the only other example at that time. As of 2009, unlisted in Campiglia & Wells.
