A collection of documents relating to Carson City, including state and county paperwork, commerce forms, and general items. Letters included are from offices of the State Controller; the Secretary of State (2); the District Court of the State of Nevada; the State of Nevada Department of Education; a letter signed by the State Treasurer and Controller to the Treasurer of Storey County; and a postal cover from the Congress of the U.S. House of Representatives. Programs from the Nevada Statehood Commemorative Stamp Ceremony (2); the 1911 Reception and Inaugural Ball tendered to Tasker L. Oddie; and U.M.I. Program No. 80, Carson, Nev., dated 1892. Other governmental items include a "Handbook of Nevada Legislature, 30th Session, 1921"; a floor plan of the Carson City U.S. Court House and Post Office from American Architect and Building Reviews, 1886; four Auto-Truck License applications from the Secretary of State expiring 1921; an "Anecdote of Sandy Bowers" from the History of the State of Nevada, 1881; a Quarterly Report on Nevada published by Irving K. Farrington & Company, New York City; and a guide to the Medical Practice Act of Nevada, compiled by the Secretary-Treasurer of the State Board of Medical Examiners. Commerce documents include: a Wells Fargo blank check, datelined Carson, Nev., 187?; four buy/sell orders and a currency slip from the Carson City Savings Bank, dated 1877-78; two insurance policies from The Commercial Union Assurance Company of London, dated 1885-86; seven documents from the Bullion Exchange Bank, including three certificates of deposit dated 1897, two acknowledgements of balance, a "handwritten" check dated 1901, a tracking form for collections and credits; and a form tracking collections and credits from The State Bank & Trust Co. General items include: The Ormsby House and Casino Gazette, dated July, 1972; "The Secret of Bret Harte" and "Mark Twain in Nevada," copies of two articles removed from a copy of the Advertisers Gazette, dated April, 1872, a membership card from the Leisure Hour Club, and two programs for the I.O.O.F. Grand Ball for Carson Lodge No. 4. Other documents include a photograph of the Lakeview Fire Dept.-about 1900, from a newspaper article dated May 18, 1950; a receipt for advertising in the Carson City Carnival Souvenir Program, dated 1901; a postcard from the Carson City Nugget, "Nevada's Fun Capital;" five money order receipts date May, 1912 inside a note which reads "Money to China;" and a receipt for items purchased from "Cagwin & Noteware, Dealers in Books, Newspapers, Cutlery, Stationery, Etc."
