NRA Unbearable Itch Big Sky Carvers Sculpture
Featured in this lot is this Friends of the NRA, Big Game Sponsor Series bear sculpture titled, "Unbearable Itch" done by Big Sky Carvers circa 2011. The piece was presented to supporters and sponsors of the NRA in the year of 2011. The sculpture depicts a bear trying to scratch an itch on his back against a large tree. The inspiration comes from Dan Smith's 2011 Friends of the NRA Print of the Year. "Dan has observed these magnificent bears in the wild beneath the big sky of Montana and shouldered slopes of Mt. McKinley in Alaska... Taking a break, our Grizzly finds the perfect scratching tree, a simple pleasure in the long summer days of foraging for food in preparation for a long and sometimes harsh winter." Each of these sculptures is cast in fine resin and has a bronze patina applied after the process. The sculpture sits on a gold engraved, faux black marble base and includes a National Rifle Association medallion set in the face of the base. The base reads, "Friends of the NRA / Big Game Sponsor Series" in gold lettering. The piece shows good condition overall with no wear present. The base is missing two pads, making the base uneven. No other signs of damage are noted. The piece measures 6 7/8" L x 6 7/8" W x 11 1/8" H and weighs 6 pounds and 10 ounces.
