Large ceramic jug (probably for water) with name of Bachechi & Giomi, Albuquerque, New Mexico on face. The shop was located at 109 South First Street. Girolama Giomi and Oreste Bachechi went into business together around 1905. Bachechi had been in business in Albuquerque since 1885 when he opened a small tent saloon near the railroad to cater to travelers and railroad employees. He was influential in building the Italian population in Albuquerque through assistance to immigrants who wanted to try their hand at business. Because of his influence, he was later named "Father of the Albuquerque Italian Colony" [unm.edu]. 13" x 10". One chip at bottom and two at mouth. - Vinegar Collection
