Reprint of the 23rd Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology. The Zuni Indians, Stevenson, Matilda Coxe. On Rio Grande Press in cooperation with Adobe Gallery, Albuquerque, NM. "A somewhat rearranged edition of the 1904 report. The publisher's preface notes that the first edition was selling for over $300 in 1985. In this edition, plates were repositioned to be printed back to back unlike the 1904 edition. The rearrangement results in a more contemporary design and is highlighted by the orange cloth cover with metallic purple lettering. Stevenson published extensive volumes on the Zuni tribe and its customs. This report covers sketches describing Zuni everyday life, arts, and customs, "but chief attention is devoted to the mythology, the esoteric fraternities, and the ceremonies of the people," reprinted here from the editor's note in the first edition. 634 pp. 8.5" x 11."
