Here is an original winterscape watercolor by Henry Gasser of Newark, New Jersey. The painting is in excellent condition, and is signed in ink in the lower left. The view measures 10" x 14.5", and it is matted, framed and glazed.



Henry Martin Gasser (American, 1909-1981)



Gasser was a painter, teacher and writer. A native of Newark, N.J., Gasser studied at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art and served as its director from 1946?54. He wrote Oil Paintings: Methods and Demonstrations (1953), Techniques of Painting the Waterfront (1959) and Techniques of Picture Making (1963). His work is still held in high regard, and his paintings are on display around the country, including the Metropolitain Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Newark Museum of Art, and the Columbus Museum of Art. He died in 1981 in South Orange, NJ.
