NINE PEALE MUSEUM HOLLOW- CUT SILHOUETTES
Philadelphia, early 19th c.
Eight silhouettes are mounted on two sides of scrap book page, sitters identified as Elizabeth Rodman, Samuel Rodman, William Rotch, Jr., William Rotch, Sarah Rodman Morgan, and Anna or Eliza Rodman, together with an unidentified gentleman. Backed with fabric.
PROVENANCE:
The silhouettes were found in a trunk originally from Wakefield in Germantown, home of the Fisher family. Most of the subjects in the silhouettes are related to or friends of the Fisher family. The trunk and its contents were purchased in 1972 from a Fisher descendent, Mrs. Wister Wurts.
