NICHOLAS II SILVER TEA SPOON
(1868 - 1918) Czar of Russia forced by the Revolution of 1905 to create a Russian parliament and approve a constitution, abdicated during the February Revolution, assassinated with his family by the Bolsheviks after the October Revolution of 1917. An attractive relic from the reign of Nicholas II, a delicate, finely worked sterling silver teaspoon used by the royal family. The spoon measures 5 1/2"" long, with a thin, turned handle, the bowl of the spoon measures 1"" across and on the bottom bears a fine floral design and a monogram. The spoon, originally contained within a fitted case, was made in Moscow by silversmiths S. T. Alexandrovsky, ca. 1900. Purchased at the sale of the estate of Kyril, Grand Duke of Russia (1876-1938), a direct cousin of Nicholas II and heir to the throne until his death in 1938. Ex: Baussant-Lefevre, Paris.
