NICHOLAS II: (1868 - 1918) Czar of Russia forced by the Revolution of 1905 to create a Russian parliament and approve a constitution, abdicated during the February Revolution, assassinated with his family by the Bolsheviks after the October Revolution of 1917. Attractive partly-printed D.S. as Tsar, 1p. sm. folio, St. Petersburg, 1902, an award to H. Pelletier Doisy of the Medal of Saint Anna, Third Degree. Boldly signed, very lightly toned, else fine. $800-1,200 212.1 EUGENE BOTKIN: (d. 1918) Russian doctor, personal physician to Nicholas II and his family, and especially attached to Prince Alexis, Botkin refused to leave the family's side and was, with them, executed by radical Bolsheviks. Exceedingly rare A.L.S. "Ev. Botkin", 2pp. 12mo., [Moscow], June 22, 1903, in Russian to a fellow physician, in part: "...In July Dr. Ivanov must cease visits in our children's hospital...can you assist us and take these visits upon yourself?...". Light soiling and toning, otherwise very good. Botkin's autograph is rare in any form, this one being the only such example offered in the last twelve years according to ABPC. $400-600
