NEVILLE CHAMBERLAIN
(1869-1940) Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from May 1937 to May 1940. Best known for his appeasement foreign policy, and in particular for his signing of the Munich Agreement in 1938 conceding the German-speaking Sudetenland to Germany. Typed L.S. "N. Chamberlain", 1p. 4to., London, June 15, 1929, to a Mrs. Radford, thanking her for her work during his election campaign for the parliamentary seat of Birmingham Edgbaston. In part: "...I am going to ask you to accept the enclosed cheque from me, as a little token of appreciation of your wonderful work during the recent Election... I know that it was a considerable strain upon you physically, and I should feel happy to think that you were permitting yourself some extra holiday or comforts of some kind, to make up for it..." Staple holes in the top left corner, folds, else very good.
