NEVER SOCK A BABY

One Sheet (27" x 41")
Very Fine- Folded
Paramount, 1939

This poster has never been offered at auction before and is likely one of the few copies in existence. Short subject one-sheets have always been scarce because most exhibitors did not order them; these shorts were not their primary concern.

This poster, vibrant and uncommon, is folded with minimal wear along the folds. It features a small, neat tear at one of the folds and exhibits some wear along the edges.

In the early 1930s, the Fleischer brothers, Max and Dave, who had established Paramount's cartoon division with creations like Betty Boop and the animated Screen Song series, felt the need to expand their roster. They introduced Popeye to the world, who became their best-selling character until the early 1940s when the brothers were ousted by Paramount. The studio continued the production of Popeye shorts until 1957.
