Day and Son, 1862FIRST EDITION, with decorative title-page, 100 litho plates (1 col), leaf of dedication, leaf of preface and 8-page list of plates, folio, original red cloth, gilt, edges gilt : little wear at headbands but binding very strong with all inside hinges firm : a very good-nice copy.A valuable collection, published as the result of professional travel. Pevsner, in his `Victorian Architecture', draws attention to "the seeming conspiracy of silence against Nesfield's historical importance."ALSO WITH THIS LOT: VIENNA, Ausstellung für kirchliche Kunt, 1912. (cover title) Ausstellung für kirchlice Kunst. Vienna, Anton Schroll & Co. G.m.b.H. [1912]. Comprising 49 of 50 plates, folio, original cloth-backed printed boards : very good-nice.A fine series of plates illustrating a very wide range of church furniture and decoration, vestments, missals, etc., almost all from Viennese manufacturers.
