(b. 1930) American astronaut and commander of the Apollo 11 mission, the first man to walk on the Moon. T.L.S. "Neil" on University of Cincinnati, Dept. of Aerospace, Engineering and Applied Mechanics letterhead, 1p. 4to., July 27, 1979, just days over a decade after he first set foot on the moon. Armstrong writes the U.S. Superintendent of Documents regretting that they were unable to meet in Washington. Docket at top, else fine. Sold with CHUCK YEAGER S.P., 4" x 6" color, artist's portrait boldly signed, and CLYDE TOMBAUGH, A.Q.S. on a white card: "Clyde W. Tombaugh, Discovered 9th planet, Pluto, on 18 Feb. 1930". Three pieces.
