Ashe. Gap Creek. Incorporated under the laws of the State of New York in 1881. It reorganized in North Carolina in 1895. The company was succeeded in 1902 by the Blue Ridge Copper Mining Company which, in turn, forfeited its charter in 1910. No. 4803, issued to E.J. Brinner for 100 shares in 1881. Signed by William Brandeis as Vice-President and Edwin H. Mulford as Secretary. Small vignette of cherub holding up an overflowing platter of fruit at bottom left. Black print on white paper. Printer: American Bank Note Company, New York. Measures 9" x 6". U/C. The property was located 30 miles from the nearest railroad and reportedly was a 12" fissure vein that carried a considerable variety of auriferous copper ores [Ref: Stevens, 1905].
