David Travis and Elizabeth Siegel, eds., TAKEN BY DESIGN: PHOTOGRAPHS FROM THE INSTITUtE OF DESIGN, 1937-1971, CHICAGO, Art Institute of Chicago, 2002, p. 42, pl. 12 (variant version without shadow illustrated)
The “Art” referred to in the dedication might be Art Siegel. After earlier studies in painting, Nathan Lerner was one of the first students at the Institute of Design in Chicago in 1937. He was a fellow classmate of Arthur Siegel there, where both men taught later.
