NAMEPLATE “TASMANIA”. This 29” curved, cast brass nameplate was carried on the left hand side of the LMS ‘Jubilee’ 5XP (later 6P) class 4-6-0, LMS 5569, built at the North British Locomotive’s Hyde Park Works as Works No. 24127 in August 1934. It was named on 10th February 1936, and became BR 45569 from December 1948. Briefly at Crewe North and Camden in 1934, it moved to Rugby in 1935, Derby in 1937, Kentish Town in 1938 and Saltley in 1941 but is chiefly remembered as being a Holbeck engine from 1942 to 1964 when it went to Patricroft for withdrawal in April 1964. The plate is face-restored only and supplied with a wooden mounting splasher with a brass description plate.
