This lot features a N. Porter Saddle And Harness Company saddle. Newton Porter was born in St. Louis, Missouri and was left an orphan by the American Civil War. Newton learned to build saddles from a St. Louis Saddlery. He later opened his first saddle shop in 1875 in Taylor, Texas. Newton Established the N. Porter Saddle and Harness Company in Phoenix, Arizona 1895. His sons carried on the business after his death in 1925. The Porter saddles were widely known throughout the West. The saddle has custom saddle bags and elegantly designed leather. Circa 1920's-30's. The saddle, was purchase in 1999 for $2,950.00, the original receipt is included. The saddle is in very good condition for its age and is truly a museum quality piece. Measure: 12" Seat
