Renowned American artist (1882–1945) and patriarch of a family of distinguished painters including son Andrew (born 1917) and grandson Jamie (born 1946). Best known for his illustrations for such classic literary works as Treasure Island, Last of the Mohicans, and Robinson Crusoe, Original signed ink sketch of a native American with an elaborate headdress, standing in profile on an off-white 3.5 x 2.25 card. Signed, “Yours truly, N. C. Wyeth -06-.” In fine condition. Some of Wyeth’s most famous works were Native American illustrations for James Fenimore Cooper’s The Last of the Mohicans. A neatly penned and striking example.
