Featured in this lot we have a copy of "My First Summer in the Sierra" by John Muir. The book was published by Boston and New York Houghton Mifflin Company and was copyright in 1911. Muir was a Scottish-American naturalist who campaigned extensively for the preservation of America's wilderness lands. He co-founded the Sierra Club and is often referred to as the "Father of the National Parks". The book describes Muir's trip to the Sierra mountains and was dedicated to the Sierra Club of California. The book is fully illustrated with over 32 illustrations in black and white. The cover of the book shows a green cloth cover with a view of a mountain range seen through trees and with gilt gold lettering along the front cover. The book shows good condition overall with some wear on the cover and spine due to age and use. The book measures 8 1/4" tall by 5 7/8" wide and 1 1/4" thick.
