Museum quality Winchester Patent Model, improvement to the legendary Henry lever action rifle, .44 cal., 24” round barrel and loading tube, brass frame and sliding fore end, wood stocks, serial #8. This patentmodel exemplified the desired improvements to problems confronting the Henry rifle, namely elimination of the fragile forward loading gate and closing of the open slot in the lower area of the magazine tube; predecessorto the famous “yellow boy” Model 1866 rifle. This important historic Winchester is in overall excellent condition showing approx. 85% original blue finish to the barrel and loading tube with some scattered slight spots of erosion and pin prick pitting, beautiful rich taffy-colored patina to Henry style frame and sliding fore arm that when moved forward reveals the loading port on the underside of the enclosed tube at the frame;the bore is near mint and the interior of the receiver shows little if any use; the action is crisp; approx. 95% original case color remains on the hammer and there are strong traces of case color on the lever with the
