1826 The Murder Of The Christian Indians in North America in the Year 1782- A Narrative of Facts (Dublin: Bentham & Hardy, 1826), paper wraps. An interesting work on the missionary Christianizing of the America Indians in an effort to befriend them and share the land peacefully. Beginning with an outline of the Indian situation in the war between Britain and her colonies in 1775 and 1776, it describes the lack of food resulting from the over hunting of land occupied by troops from both sides. It explains in detail the exploitation of the indians by the Christian communities in St. Louis, Pittsburgh, and Erie and concludes with a most detailed account of the robbing & scalping of a group of Indians who were invited to Salem for a visit. A fascinating and unfortunate early account of what was to become of the entire Indian Nation. Good condition; a rare imprint. From the Henry E. Luhrs Collection.
