<B>Thomas Mulroy's Aviator Goggles From 1928 Byrd Antarctic Expedition</B></I> with original case. A fine pair of Strauss & Buegeleisen "Commander" model aviator goggles, "Made to U.S. Navy Specifications" (as their ads of the period stated). These fur-lined goggles are still intact showing just normal wear. The original S&B aluminum case is present and also in fine condition. Approximately 8.5" x 3.25" overall. These were taken and worn by Chief and Fuel Engineer Thomas B. Mulroy on the 1928-30 Richard E. Byrd First Antarctic Expedition during which Byrd and three crewman flew the <I>Floyd Bennett</B></I> over the South Pole, the first to do so. A very displayable and even wearable collectible from this historic trip.
