High relief striking, About extremely fine, Exceedingly rare.

Rafi ud-Darajat was the son of Emperor Rafi ud-Daula and ascended the throne after the death of his uncle, Emperor Farrukhsiyar, in the same year 1719. He reigned for a mere three months under the control of the Sayyid brothers, who installed him as a figurehead after deposing Farrukhsiyar. He was one of the short-lived rulers in Mughal history, marked by rapid succession and political instability. His reign ended when he was overthrown and killed in a conspiracy orchestrated by his political rivals. Due to his short-lived rule, gold mohurs struck at Lahore mint, bearing his name with the couplet "Ba Hazaraan Barkaat" ("With Thousands of Blessings") are exceptionally rare. This coin, holds immense historical value and is possibly the first specimen to be featured in an Indian auction.
