Aurangzeb, Silver 1/8 Rupee- Nisar, 1.39g, Akbarabad Mint, AH 1078/ RY 7, Obv: Persian legend “Nisar Alamgiri” with RY, Rev: Mint name with AH year. Very fine, very rare.
Soon after his accession, Aurangzeb banned many ceremonies, severely limiting the occasions for issuance of largesse or ‘Nisar’ coins. They continued to be struck for alms-giving and court audiences. This coin clearly shows a reengraved RY on obverse.
