Mr. Robinson Crusoe (United Artists, 1932). Three Sheet (41" X 81"). Douglas Fairbanks, looking little like his 50 years of age, wrote and acted in this comedy. Seventy years before "Survivor," Fairbanks wagers that he can jump off his yacht, wash up on the shore of a deserted island and live for a year unassisted. Even without society, he builds an incredible Rube Goldberg-like encampment, which comes in handy when Saturday comes -- Saturday being a lovely young woman (Maria Alba) who arrives on the scene. With beautiful photography, a memorable musical score (by Alfred Newman) and a giddy performance by Fairbanks, this film (his second-to-last) closed Fairbanks' career in high-flying style. This stone litho three sheet is in beautiful condition, a towering portrait of the lithe Fairbanks and his girl Saturday. Restoration patched a few pinholes and small tears in the borders, and the attachment of the bottom third is very clean. Very Fine on Linen.
