Mr. Bug Goes to Town (Paramount, 1941). Australian One Sheet (27" X 40"). The Lowlands lie in a vacant lot off Broadway and houses a vibrant community... of bugs and insects. There is Hoppity the grasshopper, a dreamer; Mr. Bumble, the bee who operates the gathering spot The Honey Shop, and his daughter Honey Bee, who loves Hoppity; C. Bagley Beetle, the ruthless businessman who betrays the community out of greed; Smack the mosquito and Swat the fly (get it?), Mr. Beetle's comic-relief henchmen; and little Buzz, a young bee and a member of the Bee Scouts (yeah, you get it). When a plans for a skyscraper threaten the Lowlands, Hoppity decides to take action and must battle Beetle for the welfare of the community and the heart of Honey Bee. Hoagy Carmichael and Frank Loesser contribute a couple of songs along the way, but even with the sly wordplay for adults (the title, for example), this second feature of the Fleischer brothers could not challenge the burgeoning Disney empire. This Australian one sheet contains a tape-repaired fold and crossfold separation, but the edges only show the slightest wear. Very Fine-.
