Mr. Baseball Tom Selleck Signed Lobby Card
Mr. Baseball Tom Selleck Signed Lobby Card - The hit 1992 comedy "Mr. Baseball" was as much a cultural challenge in production as the film plot itself. The movie was about an American fading baseball player was is traded to a Japanese team, with obvious cultural shock and troubles getting accepted in a xenophobic Japan. At the time, Japanese baseball was even bigger than American, and the movie was based on the real life struggles of American players relocating to the foreign land. It starred Tom Selleck and Japanese superstar Ken Takakura and was a co-production of the mega-giant Japanese media empire DENTSU and Universal Studios. Internal struggles in production were as interesting as the one's in the film! This is a promo lobby card from the movie. It is framed and mounted and is personally signed by Tom Selleck who has written his trademark salutation: "With my thanks for your help & friendship, aloha, Tom Selleck". As a homage to his beloved America and his past, in the end of the movie Selleck puts on a Detroit Tiger's baseball cap, the same one he wore on screen in his hit TV series "Magnum, P.I.". There is some visual water damage on the upper right hand corner of the matte, and the lobby card itself has some wavering, but otherwise in good shape. Frame is 14"x14".
