This is a Mouthy Marvin 25 cent metal gum ball vending machine manufactured by Northwestern Co. of Morris Illinois circa 1960. This has an iconic desirable design that has the appearance of the litho-tin toy space-age robots. Northwestern has been in the vending machine business since 1909 and was enormously successful in the Mid Century. The robot vending machine has four catch phrases: 'Does your mother know you're talking to a robot? I won't tell', 'Earthling I think I am lost, Take me to your leader', 'Say, don't I know you from someplace, how about Mars?', and 'Boy those big balls of gum sure stick in my throat', which he says each time he dispenses some gum balls, after the quarter is inserted. The piece shows slight wear, but overall is in good condition. This comes in two pieces, the top gum ball storage head and the bottom vending mechanism and stand area. Measures 45.75"H x 11.5"D x 19"W.
