U. S. Model 1859 Cavalry curb bit – also known as the "Ring" or "Mexican" bit – mounted on wood plaque. Given to Kenneth Winfield who owned the Apache Maid (largest cattle ranch in AZ). History is outlined on paper attached to the back, handwritten: "Long Beach - Aug - 13 -1932 / This bit given to undersigned Oct. 1913 by Buffalo Bill - Bill Cody for favors rendered as Mounted Police, is hereby this afore date, handed down to Kenneth Winfield of Camp Verde Ariz. Geo. E. Loper. 747 Cerritos Ave. Long Beach". Mounted on wood shield with brass heart from U.S. martingale.
