This is a wonderfully carved Mississippian culture carved steatite pipe showing a bear cub and frog effigy figures from the Moundville Archaeological site. The Moundville Mississippian culture thrived on the Black Warrior River in Hale County, Alabama circa 800 CE to 1500 CE. The piece has a professional repair as shown, but otherwise is a wonderful museum quality pipe. Measures 2 1/8”H x 8”L x 1.25”D with a ¾” bowl opening and 3/8” connection opening.
