Rashid Farrokhi is a grand master weaver whose name is synonymous with the most beautiful and the finest quality of lavar-Kerman rug collections. This is a breathtaking highly intricate lavar-Kerman with a color palette that is soothing to the eyes. lavar has had some of the most talented and imaginative rug weavers throughout the centuries. they are known for producing such enchanting and exquisite pieces with dazzling beauty to counter balance the harshness of the environment and barren land they live in. what is intriguing, is when one is reminded of the fact that lavar, a small desert town in the south central part of Iran, is the birthplace of a rug with such sensational beauty. it becomes even more astonishing when one is reminded of the fact that these lovely pieces are woven and created by people that have very little education, if any at all. It is in that context that one would appreciate even further such striking beauties with their rich colors and elegant design. this is man's intuitive genius striving for beauty and perfection, and in this case, in the form of an art underfoot. This lovely piece is masterfully woven, knot by knot, and has about 225 knots per square inch. It takes a master weaver well over four years to create this beauty. the leather band sewn on the edge at the back of this rug is to keep the edges from curling under due to the extreme tightness of the weave.
