Mort Drucker - Original Art for Mad #63, Complete 4-page Story, "John Wayne on the Set of the Alamo" (EC, 1961). Mort Drucker quickly became one the most favored artists working on Mad Magazine. His ability to parody any media celebrity or movie star was always fun to look at and his particular style set the standard by which subsequent artists for other humor magazines followed. Half the fun in looking at a Mort Drucker page is picking out the character actors of the time that were always placed in the background. These pages feature Drucker's master approach to the Craftint drawing paper that chemically created zipatone-like screens in the illustrations when certain washes were applied. Mort Drucker's confidence with the ink medium is showcased in these pages that are sure to please. All of the text boxes are stats, a few of which have fallen off. The title stats are absent and there is moderate staining with very minor use of white-out. However, the artwork itself is so well rendered that little of the visual enjoyment is diminished. The average size of these pages is 17.5" x 24.5". Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
