Morocco (Paramount, 1930). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Marlene Dietrich's second collaboration with director and Svengali Josef von Sternberg, and her first English-language film, was this elegant soap opera set in North Africa. Dietrich is Amy Jolly, a singer in Lo Tinto's nightclub, who meets both Foreign Legionnaire Gary Cooper and rich Adolphe Menjou. After some wary posturing, she and Cooper fall in love with each other. Cooper understands that their romance would be difficult at best, and encourages her to take up Menjou's offer of marriage. Still, Dietrich is willing to sacrifice everything for true love, even to following her man into the desert. This lobby card has some light toning, and a few small light wrinkles. There has been some restoration on the edges, but the image is in nice shape. A marvelous shot of Dietrich and Cooper at Lo Tinto's. Fine+.
