Front page report on the death of Mormon prophet Joseph Smith reads in part: ''...threats of violence by both parties followed...faithful Mormons flocking to Nauvoo, their chief city and their adversaries congregating at Carthage and Warsaw...the Mormons on the inside of the jail...presented pistols...'' Measures 18.25'' x 23''. Some chipping and paper loss to left spine, folded cross and lengthwise, and foxing throughout. Overall very good condition.
