New York, 1821, Historic document signed by Mordecai Noah. Noah (1785-1851) was a lawyer/journalist/activist who served as consul in Algiers and entered journalism on his return to New York editing the "National Advertiser", the "Courier and Enquirer", the "Evening Star" and the "Sunday Times". In 1820 he tried to create a Jewish homeland on Grand Island in the Niagara River, nothing ever came of it.
