Moore's Patent Firearms Co. Number 1 Derringer with Inscription
Manufactured circa 1860 to 1865. The top of the barrel is marked "MOORE'S PAT. F.A. CO. BROOKLYN N.Y." and "FEB 24 1863" on the underside. Half-moon blade front and hammer notch rear sights. The brass frame has a broad scroll engraving on a punch dot background with the grip area heaving checkered panels on the sides and fancy checkering on the back. The sides of the barrel feature scrollwork and a star/arrow motif, with "A.P. Wal ? (see photo)" in script on the left side. The finish was removed in the area of the inscription.

Very fine. The barrel retains approximately 70% original silver plating with the balance a smooth gray patina. The frame retains approximately 25% of the silver with the exposed brass having an even aged patina, along with some minor handling marks in the grip area. Front sight has a minor nick. The engraving is crisp.
