Moorcroft pottery footed bowl decorated in the Orchid pattern, produced during the Walter Moorcroft era. The interior showcases a large orchid bloom in shades of crimson and rose with yellow tipped petals, set against a soft olive ground with naturalistic foliage. The form is a low rounded footed bowl with wide rim and shallow well. The glazing highlights Moorcroft mastery, with tube lined outlines defining the floral motifs and layers of translucent glazes pooling to create jewel like depth and luminosity. A compelling example of modern Moorcroft art from a high demand designer era. Decorated in vivid tube lined detail, the Orchid motif reflects the exotic elegance that defined Walter Moorcroft mid century output. The tube lined decoration reflects the Florian tradition established by William Moorcroft at the turn of the twentieth century, where raised slip outlines and glowing glazes became the hallmark of Moorcroft design. The underside carries a blue script signature, a Potter to HM The Queen mark, and Made in England.
