A commemorative medal of the pioneer of American rocketry, Dr. R.H. Goddard

This medal commemorates the first moon landing on July 20, 1969 and the pioneer of American rocketry Dr. R.H. Goddard. The front depicts an astronaut making the first step on the moon. This side of the medal is inscribed with the date of the first moon landing ‘JULY 20, 1969’ and the engraving ‘WE ALL CAME IN PEACE FOR ALL MANKIND’. The reverse shows Dr. Robert Hutchings Goddard, the American scientist and rocket pioneer. He is standing in the front of his first liquid rocket. Above the depiction is the title ‘FATHER OF AMERICAN ROCKETRY DR. R.H. GODDARD’.



The medial bears the signature of the medalists and the date ‘Calle/DiLorenzo 1969’ on the front side. The coin is stamped on the rim with the mint ‘MEDALLIC ART CO.N.Y. BRONZE’. The medal is 63.5 mm in diameter.
