<B>Montreal, PQ- La Banque Ville-Marie</B></I> $5 Jan. 2, 1889 Ch. # 785-12-02<BR> This small bank was closed in 1899 amidst allegations of fraud, most all of which turned out to be true. Prosecutions were undertaken against several directors and officers, and the president and chief accountant were sentenced to jail. All surviving notes from this bank are rare.
