Discovered in 1848 by A. Randall, who discovered low-grade magnetic material during the survey of the Fourth Principal Meridian. Owned by the Montreal Mining Company, Wisconsin (1976). First production occurred in 1886. Production years were 1886 to at least 1950, except for 1921. The mine was predominantly an open pit operation until 1886.
