Montgomery Clift Autograph
Elizabeth Taylor once said that Montgomery Clift was the single most beautiful man on the face of the Earth. Though known for her hyperbole, this time, she wasn't far from the truth. Having endured a childhood very much like many of the tortured characters he played, Clift made, in a relatively short career, some of the greatest American motion pictures ever produced. He gave epic and deep-as-the-Grand-Canyon emotionally charged performances in such classics as "From Here To Eternity (1953), "A Place in the Sun" (1951), "Red River" (1948), "Raintree Country" (1957), and "Judgment at Nuremberg" (1961). His sudden death at 45 years of age sent a shockwave around Hollywood and beyond. Achingly private, autographs of Clift are extremely rare. This an original Studio Publicity B&W 8"x10" photo from Clift's last movie, "The Defector" (1966). Clift was extremely ill while doing this film, yet refused to use a stunt double in this action packed spy thriller and did them all himself. He passed away only three months after the film was released, making this autograph one of his last as well. Originally purchased from Myron Ross, UACC dealer. Comes with a Letter of Provenience.
