Lot of 5: 1) Slug marked SCHAUFELE BROS. THE OPERA, MONTEREY, CAL. on this ounce, clear picnic with footed base from this Monterey establishment. This piece has a neatly applied single collar, un-ground top, has air vent holes on each shoulder and is free of damage. 2,3) Also part of this set are two tokens. There is a "Good for 25 Cents in Trade" and a "Good for Five Cents in Trade" piece. Both tokens in good condition. Not listed in Thomas. 4) Slug inscribed WALSH & BECK THE COMMERCIAL SANTA CRUZ, CAL. on this one ounce clear, picnic style, with footed base (small chip), neatly applied single collar, un-ground top and two air vents on shoulders. There is a long crack/scratch on reverse and a small crack/scratch in front, above slug plate. This saloon was run by partners Walsh and Beck and was in existence by 1905. It was located at 124 Pacific Ave. and closed down because of Prohibition in 1918. 5) Paper label inscribed GUARANTEED BY EL ADOBE 324-326 ALVARDO ST. MONTEREY, CAL. FINE BOURBON WHISKEY on this 10 ounce bottle with a footed base (a small chip). Top is a single collar un-ground top with no damage. There are air vents on the shoulders and some air bubbles evident.
