This lot contains a early 19th century Western Cowboy money belt collected in Montana. The belt is in fair condition for its age, the leather belt strap in flexible but shows cracking, the fur is thin in some areas, and the edges are flaking. The piece has a rare Otter fur construction scarcely seen in Old West leather goods. The belt leather itself is in good condition showing good flexibility and little to no cracks. It measures 39 1/4" L x 4 1/4" W. Would have been worn under the clothing to keep precious goods and money safe from robbers. Also could have been worn to hi-grade gold.
