Montana Indian tacked Winchester 1866with standard 20" barrel, full magazine and walnut stocks. Found in Montana in the 1950's by early firearms dealer Red Jackson, Jackson Arms Dallas Texas sold to Doc Leonard Rapid City SD. Carbine shows thecharacteristic use and decoration of a Indian frontier used weapon, the forend once tacked, great saddle pommel wear through to the barrel, upper edges worn down to thin. Rear stock changed to rifle with brasscrescent cleaning rod buttplate showing 6 tacks on left and right side of wrist and 18 remaining tacks around buttlate, curious small 66 or 99 stamped on left side. Barrel retains a silver gray color, barrel addressstrong with original carbine sight. Receiver shows mustard yellow patina, side plates undisturbed with tight fit, loading gate intact, lower tang with common repair, edges soft from years of use, staple and ring haveben removed in typical fashion.
