Monogramist A. W. (probably A. Willenhoudt, active in Antwerp in the 17th century) The Adoration of the Magi, oil on copper, 70 x 87.5 cm, framed, (Wo). EURO 11.000 - 15.000 US $ 9,500 - 12,900 Certificate: Jan De Maere, 15th January 2002: "This painting is unmistakenly of the same hand monogrammed AW in the Prado Museum (Madrid). This Flemish painter worked in Antwerp. He produced paintings in the Rubens-Francken style for export to Spain, where a great number of paintings still remain in in private and public collections. A great number of these paintings were already in the 17th century exported to South America through the painting dealers Musson and Forchondt, who established themselves in Spain. Two paintings of the same hand in a private Portuguese collection are signed A. Willenhoudt".
