We bought this years ago at an estate with a lot of European medieval antiques and we used it in our store as display for our antique nautical items . He really brought a lot of attention to the displays.

I think he is pretty old and made to look like a mast head on ship as he juts out of the background. I think he might be a MONGOL warrior ( Genghis Khan) .Genghis Khan, or Ghengis Khan as he is more widely known, was born about the year 1162 to a Mongol chieftain, Yesugei, and his wife. He was born with the name of Temujin which means ?iron worker? in his native language. When Temujin was born his fist was clutching a blood clot which was declared an omen that he was destined to become a heroic warrior. The work on his one-piece hemispherical bowl with a point helmet and collar armor of small overlapping plates is really detailed and his eyes look so REAL.

This is large (27" x 20" 10") and has darkened beautifully with age. THere is a hook on the back to hang him but he also rests well against a table or dresser. For collectors of Asian items this is a fantastic old piece.
