A wonderfully molded bronze Italic / Sardinian, figure of a man, c. 6th - 5th Century BC, depicted nude with legs stretched out, shoulders bent back and arms moving forward as if in an attack pose. His hands are flattened and facing forward. His head is bald, with bulging eyes and a goatee growing from his chin. H: 41/4 in (10.8cm). Intact with a nice chocolate brown and green patina. In an improper sense, the term Italic is sometimes used, especially in the non-specialized literature, to refer to all pre-Roman people of Italy, including non-Indo-European lineages as the Etruscans, the Raetians or the Elymians. As such the bronze sculpture took on a form of its own. Today we might refer to it as modernist. A really unique and wonderful piece.
